As TOP 5 costumavam ter apenas 1 palavra no título. Originalmente eram 3, sendo que já postei Always e agora posto Still. Essa música acompanhou minha juventude perdida entre estações de rádio, paixões platônicas, jogadores de futebol, cadernos de poesia e lágrimas. Sim, eu fui uma adolescente típica – talvez mais típica do que muitos que conheço. Eu não tentava ser o que não era para me destacar. No final das contas, nos destacamos exatamente por sermos nós mesmos.

E eu creio que a coisa que mais adorava, dos 10 aos 16 anos, era ouvir música na rádio. E Still faz parte dessa época. Lindamente cantada por Lionel Richie, quando ele ainda era parte do grupo “The Commodores”, ela tem uma letra profunda e triste.

Essa é a versão original da música, com mais de 5 minutos. Lionel Richie gravou uma versão editada, com 3 minutos, anos depois. A letra é modificada. Prefiro, certamente, a versão original. Vamos à letra?

Momento LONGA PAUSA para o “I do love you – still”, que me causa todo tipo de arrepio possível. Foi inspiração definitivamente para escrever a poesia YOU. STILL. que vocês podem ler no fanfiction center

Essa música povoa meu imaginário criativo desde que eu era uma adolescente. Em 1994, quando a ouvi pela primeira vez. Eu ainda ouvia rádio, não tinha computador – o meu primeiro computador eu ganhei em 1995 – e gravava minhas músicas em fitas k7. Em 1996, já na faculdade e dirigindo o Fiat UNO vermelho da minha mãe, eu comprei um aparelho de CD para o carro só para poder ouvir música e… o primeiro CD que comprei – sim, naquela época a gente não baixava música pela internet! – foi Crossroads, para ouvir Always no volume máximo que conseguia.

Existem vários motivos para se apaixonar por Always. A melodia, a letra poética, a voz de Bon Jovi, o backing vocal e a guitarra de Richie Sambora, o piano inconfundível de David Bryan, aquele início de bateria de Tico Torres, o video clipe espetacular, que conta uma historinha ótima, e ainda tem lances dos olhos lindíssimos de Jon para nos divertir… não dá para explicar por que essa música é uma TOP 5. Ela apenas é.

Curiosidade:
Em uma versão, Jon troca um pedaço da letra da música.
Na versão original, ele canta “it’s been raining since you left me” e em outra ele canta “since you left me it’s been raining”. Eu só ouvi essa segunda versão 1 vez, e tenho ela em áudio. Vou lembrar-me de fazer o upload para vocês

Vamos falar das minhas músicas TOP 5. Não é qualquer música que entra para essa categoria, alguns requisitos devem necessariamente ser verificados. Eu preciso conseguir ouvir a música o dia todo, por vários dias, sem parar. E isso tem que se repetir por anos. Pelo menos. Não me canso das TOP 5, mesmo que elas sejam bem antigas. E elas têm que ser lindas. Música, melodia, letra, voz. Tudo muito bem feito, em harmonia. E não podem ser clássicas. As TOP 5 presumem música pop, rock, coisa do dia a dia.

Começo hoje com FLYING WITHOUT WINGS, a primeira música que ouvi do Westlife e aquela que fez uma boyband entrar para o meu complicado hall de favoritas. A música tem uma letra linda, romântica, com uma melodia deliciosa. Um vocal de fundo espetacular. E um clipe musical fan-tás-ti-co.

Ela foi gravada em parceria com Christian Castro e com BOA (cantora Sul Coreana). E foi o terceiro single do grupo Westlife, tendo feito parte do primeiro álbum deles.
